Netflix is gearing up for the highly anticipated debut of WWE Monday Night Raw on its platform, scheduled for January 6, 2025. Despite previous technical difficulties with live streaming events, the streaming giant is confident in its ability to deliver a seamless viewing experience for WWE fans worldwide.
During a recent presentation, Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria addressed concerns about potential streaming issues, acknowledging the challenges faced during the live streaming of the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match. However, she assured viewers that the company has learned from these experiences and has taken steps to ensure a smooth transition for WWE content.
He said, “Whenever we do any live events, obviously, we want it to go very smoothly for every single one of our members. I think also to put things in perspective, it was 65 million concurrent streamers, right? It was a very successful night and a lot of people. The scale was very big, which was great. There was a lot of interest in it, and the thing is, when you test and push something to 65 million people … you can’t learn these things until you do them. So you take a big swing.”
WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, also known as Paul Levesque, expressed optimism. He said, “I’ll just say if it blinks a couple of times and we do sixty million, I’m good with that.” Bajaria then replied to Triple H, “We’re going to be ready for your sixty million!”
The collaboration between WWE and Netflix marks a significant milestone for both companies. By streaming WWE content on its platform, Netflix aims to attract a wider audience and strengthen its position in the streaming market. WWE, on the other hand, will benefit from Netflix's global reach and advanced technology to deliver its programming to a larger audience.
