Writing the perfect email is only half the work done because timing its delivery is what ensures it actually gets read. Whether you are dealing with colleagues in different time zones or just want to ensure that people in the day's first shift check that important email first thing in morning, Gmail’s built-in scheduling feature is a massive lifesaver. This hidden tool allows you to write your messages whenever inspiration strikes, or you are working, and automatically queue them up to send later. You do not need any fancy third-party plug-ins or paid software to master this as the option is already baked right into your Gmail inbox. Here is exactly how to schedule, view, edit, and cancel automated emails on your computer.

Open and compose: Go to Gmail on your computer, click Compose in the top-left corner, and draft your email normally.

Go to Gmail on your computer, click Compose in the top-left corner, and draft your email normally.

Look at the bottom left of your composition window. Right next to the blue "Send" button, click the small Down arrow (More send options).

Click Schedule send and select your desired date and time.

Your email will send automatically based on the timezone you are currently in when you schedule it.

Locate your queue: In the left-hand menu panel of your inbox, click on the Scheduled folder.

Click the specific email you want to modify, then click Cancel send in the top-right corner of the message.

Make your edits, click the Down arrow next to "Send" again, click Schedule send, and pick your new time.

Note: gmail allows you to have a maximum of 100 scheduled emails queued up at any given time.

Go to your Scheduled folder in the left sidebar, stop and click Cancel send in the upper right.

Once canceled, the email won't disappear; it automatically converts back into a standard Draft so you don't lose your text.
