Legendary watering hole in the French Quarter
Noteworthy for: Pat's most famous drink, the notoriously strong Hurricane, was designed to use up surplus rum.
Pat O'Brien's is a boisterous bar popular enough to trap visitors and locals alike with powerful Hurricane cocktails, waiters in green waistcoats, outdoor seating, and easy charm. Five bars are set throughout a former French Quarter inn with two entrances, one on Bourbon and another on St. Peter's.From Bourbon, the entrance corridor leads past the dim and intimate Bourbon bar to the patio and its peculiar flaming fountain. Food from the restaurant can be eaten here. The St. Peter's entrance leads to the large main room and a smaller piano room, where drinkers enjoy 'duelling pianos' and the musicians honor all requests.
