In an inspirational move, 633 sea divers together have set the Guinness World Record by collecting nearly 1,626 pounds of trash at the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier in Florida. They also pulled out around 60 pounds of fishing line from the ocean. This underwater ocean cleanup has been appreciated on a global level.
One of the biggest things about this project was that divers from far away destinations such as Europe and South America came together to be a part of the noble cause.
This 972-ft pier is one prominent tourist attraction and has a huge population of fishermen. Owing to its rich marine life, a number of fishermen and tourists from outside too visit the place. One can easily rent fishing rods here, and buy fresh bait, and all kind of fishing accessories. So, you can imagine only 1,600 pounds of lead fishing weights was discovered from the ocean bed.
Also every year, this international fishing pier organises various environmental workshops for free in order to educate people about nature conservation.
