Grand Mumtaz is a good mid-range hotel in Gulmarg. The hotel has been tastefully designed with classic Kashmiri décor and wood panelling. Surrounding the resort is a dense forest of Deodar. In the winter season, the sight of Deodar trees laden with snow is one to behold.

Grand Mumtaz has well–appointed, spacious, centrally heated rooms with running hot water, Wi-Fi internet, TV and DTH. Most of the rooms are quite good and well maintained. However, avoid rooms at the ground floor or in the basement as they feel slightly dingy. Rooms on higher floors have better views and have an airy feel to them. A comfortable multi cuisine restaurant, Lazeez, at the hotel premises, serves Kashmiri Wazwan, Indian and Continental dishes. The hotel also has a lounge which has great views of the Gulmarg meadows. The hotel is walking distance from the Gondola base station and is quite convenient from a sightseeing perspective. A short uphill walk from the hotel will take you to a beautiful forested area which isn’t frequented by many. Further uphill, you’ll enter the ski resort boundary and will be rewarded by some spectacular views of the Aphrawat range.

Grand Mumtaz is one of the few places in Gulmarg where credit cards work, and at more than one occasion, this has been very useful to some of our traveller’s in Gulmarg.
