This point has been named after Mathew Loam, who marked the road way back in 1886. Located on the ninth bend of the winding Aliyar Valparai hill road, the Loam’s View point is a vantage point where a platform gives you a lovely view of the picturesque mountain road, the blue waters of the Aliyar reservoir and the Anamalai mountain range. The sight is as close to picture perfect as it can get and while you can get some views on the tenth and eleventh bends as well, the best view is from the ninth bend. In fact this is also a great place to spot the endangered Nilgiri tahr especially towards late afternoon. This is also the spot to catch sunset from where you can capture some spectacular pictures.
