Surajpur Bird Sanctuary and Biodiversity Park has been recently developed in the wetland area around the Yamuna River basin. Situated near Surajpur village in Gautam Budh Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh, it is a good place for nature trails and birding around Delhi. It is home to more than 180 species of birds that include spot-billed duck, lesser whistling duck, cotton pygmy goose, comb duck, red-crested pochard, bar-headed and greylag goose, common teal, northern shoveller and gadwall. The winter season is a good time to visit Surajpur as many migratory birds visit the park during this season. Besides, Dadri Wetland, around 15 km from Surajpur, also attracts many migratory birds. More than 200 bird species are seen in and around this wetland, including some rare ones.
