This ice carving festival truly needs to be seen to be believed, as there seems to be no shortage of what artists and sculptors can do with just a chainsaw, chisels and a huge block of ice. The annual festival is now in its 14th year, and runs for two weekends during the month of January. Families love the festival as it offers plenty of outdoor fun, including ice slides, live music, an outdoor food court, and even a place to indulge in some grown up beverages, including plenty of mulled wine to warm you up. Tickets for the festival are only $7 for adults and $4 for kids, which is a steal, considering you will likely spend the entire day here. Many visitors come here for the ice sculpting competition which features sculptors from around the world and is broken up into two competitions. The first runs for 35 hours and the teams are given 15 blocks of ice to carve their masterpieces. The second competition runs for just 10 hours, and contestants are given just three blocks of ice. Whenever you choose to attend this festival, chances are you are going to see the artists in action.
