Since 1973, the Poppies restaurant, situated in a lovely garden setting, offers a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. Poppies serves a good selection of seafood, Indonesian and international dishes and some wonderful cocktails—their famous Pina Coladas, served in an individually hand-carved coconut, are especially popular.

Poppies serve all the Indonesian favourites; try the rijsttafel (a Dutch word that means ‘rice table’) is a sharing meal that contains a mixed selection of Balinese and Indonesian delicacies. Poppies also serves amazing nasi goreng, a lightly-fried and spiced rice served with egg, chicken or prawns is a classic dish that is very popular all over Bali and Indonesia. You can find it all over the island but one of the best places to enjoy this dish is in Poppies’ relaxing garden, amongst the tropical flowers and waterfalls.
