Located on Carrollton Avenue with easy access by St Charles Streetcar line at the other side of the city from the French Quarter, Camellia Grill is actually a greasy spoon. But in Southern Louisiana, a greasy spoon is not considered disparaged, especially if it is something as ancient and delectable as Camellia. Opened in 1946, it is housed in a charming white plantation house surrounded by greenery. Its old world charm is held intact by the vintage interiors, uniforms of the wait staff and the general atmosphere. Camellia is known for its giant omelettes, decadent cheese burgers, hot pecan pie and variety of freezes.
