One of the more modern restaurants in the historical town of Unterseen, a few minutes away from the centre of Interlaken, Benacus serves global cuisine with a twist using the freshest produce in the region. With celebrity Chef Rene Schudel at the helm, the many complex flavours of the fare served here will keep you coming back for more. Try their hamburgers and fish preparations and complete your meal with their signature molten chocolate cake. With around 60 covers, guests can watch their orders being prepared in the open kitchen, truly a performance like no other. For those who intend to meet friends over a couple of drinks, their bar, which is basically a cellar, is stocked with the finest bottles of wine and the music is lively.
While the interiors of Benacus are tastefully decorated with cow bells to remind you that their heart is always beaming with Swiss pride, the presentation of the food is akin to contemporary art. Housed inside a medieval building, the ambience of this restaurant is incredibly relaxed and the staff will do everything to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The place can be a tad bit pricey, however, the food is worth your money. Reservations are vital.
