Over 23,000 square feet of space over two storeys make the somewhat lack luster topic of agriculture come alive. You have the National Agricultural Science Museum (NASM), situated in the Pusa campus to thank for putting some life into this science that forms the bedrock of the Indian economy.
What’s on display? A journey from pre-historic times and their agricultural and harvesting methods to the present state-of-the-art technology that is used in today’s mechanized agriculture. The children witness the metamorphoses that the Indian Agri sector has undergone through interesting interactive audio-visual media spread across 150 exhibits under the following sections:
- Six pillars of agriculture - Agriculture in Pre-historic period - Indus-Valley civilization - Vedic and Post Vedic Period - The Mughal Period - British Period - Agricultural Science in Independent India - Universal Issues relating to agriculture - Golden future of Indian agriculture
You could take a diminutive lesson in the chapter on plant life by simply going through the section on sources of food, photosynthesis, balanced diet, Green house effect, water cycle among others.
