Norway
Situated in the Arctic Circle, Norway is often referred to as the Land of the Midnight Sun. From May to late July, Norway experiences a continuous period of daylight lasting around 76 days. In Svalbard, Norway, located in Europe's northernmost inhabited region, the sun shines continuously from April 10 to August 23. Planning a visit during this time allows you to experience days without nights.
Iceland
As Europe's largest island after Great Britain, Iceland experiences clear nights during the summer. In June, parts of Iceland, including the city of Akureyri and Grimsey Island in the Arctic Circle, witness the phenomenon of the Midnight Sun, where the sun never sets.
Nunavut, Canada
With a population of just over 3000, Nunavut is located two degrees above the Arctic Circle in the Northwest Territories of Canada. This city witnesses approximately two months of uninterrupted sunlight, while its winters are characterized by around 30 consecutive days of total darkness.
Barrow, Alaska
From late May to late July, Barrow, Alaska, encounters continuous sunlight, which is later compensated by a period known as the polar night, lasting from the beginning of November for the subsequent 30 days. The region, known for its snow-capped mountains and mesmerizing glaciers, remains in darkness during the harsh winter months.
Sweden
From early May to late August, Sweden witnesses the sun setting around midnight and rising at approximately 4 AM. Some regions in Sweden may enjoy constant sunshine for up to six months of the year, providing ample opportunities for extended days filled with adventurous activities such as golfing, fishing, and trekking.
Finland
Renowned as the land of a thousand lakes and islands, most parts of Finland experience straight sunlight for just 73 days during the summer. This period sees the sun shining continuously, while the winter months bring darkness. The unique light conditions influence sleep patterns, with less sleep in summer and more during winter.
Kiruna, Swedish Lapland
As the northernmost city in Sweden, Kiruna experiences approximately 100 days of continuous sunlight from May to August. The Art Nouveau church of Kiruna is esteemed as one of Sweden's most beautiful architectural works.
Yukon, Canada
Yukon is covered in snow for a significant portion of the year. However, during the summer days, the north-western part of Yukon enjoys continuous sunshine for 50 days.
