If you’re craving a weekend getaway that is full of sights and activities, there is no better place than the Sacred Valley. We suggest planning your itinerary for this weekend getaway well in advance, as there is just so much to do in the area. Try to visit the salt ponds of Maras; here, farmers harvest salt from terraced salt ponds. These make for beautiful photos. After spending a couple of hours in Maras, head to the nearby Moray for a short lesson in Incan architecture and ideology. This works as a great introduction to the Incan value system, a perfect precursor for your visit to Machu Picchu. Don’t forget to check out colourful handicrafts and Peruvian fruits and vegetables at the local market of Pisac. If you enjoy learning about the food of a new country, make sure you take a cooking class in the Sacred Valley. A number of hotels in the area can arrange cooking classes that provide an insight into Peruvian ingredients and their unique way of cooking. If you love adrenalin-fuelled experiences, don’t forget to sleep at the Sacred Valley’s Skylodge Adventure Suites where transparent capsules, equipped with a bed and toilet, are suspended on a cliff hundreds of metres above the ground.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
