A 50-year-old letter in bottle travelled to an Alaskan beach!

Recently, in a surprising turn of events, a man was shocked to discover a 50-year-old letter in a bottle on the shores of western Alaska. Supposedly, the letter belongs to someone from the Russian Navy.
Tyler Ivanoff, who found the letter earlier this month, said that he was looking for firewood when he found the bottle. He used a screwdriver to get the message out, and further added that he had to pull it out really hard, and even used his teeth! Once he took out the letter, he realised that the bottle was dry on the inside and so was the note.
He then shared this story on social media, which lead to the discovery that the message is about a greeting from a Cold War Russian sailor dated June 20, 1969. Russian speakers helped in translating the message, which pointed out that the letter even contained an address and a request for that person, who finds the bottle, to respond to it.
Interestingly, reporters from Russia-1, the state-owned Russian media network, were successful in tracking down Captain Anatolii Prokofievich Botsanenko, the original writer of the note. When shown the letter, he was a little bit sceptical, until he saw his signature at the bottom. He then explained that he wrote the letter when he was abroad a fishing fleet. As per the program, he was overlooking the construction of the Sulak in 1966 and sailed on it till 1970. When he sent the letter, he was 36-year-old, and is 86 now.
The contents of the letter read, “Sincere greetings! From the Russian Far East Fleet mothership VRXF Sulak. I greet you who finds the bottle and request that you respond to the address Vladivostok -43 BRXF Sulak to the whole crew. We wish you good health and long years of life and happy sailing. 20 June 1969.”
