It is due to the long history of the place that these buildings can be seen here. A strong sense of the old prevails all the time that you are there. There are also numerous souks, markets and independently managed carts and stalls. The place is vibrant in its energy and different sorts of people can be seen flocking all over the place. If Amman has a soul, it is to be found here, in the downtown district and the adjoining neighborhood of Jabal Amman and Jabal Al Lweibdeh.
Downtown Amman is brimming with energy – it is a shopper’s paradise and a fine experience for tourists. You will find everything here: sweet shops, Arabic food restaurants, spice sellers, and souvenirs stalls. Just be wary of falling into tourist traps. It is best to enjoy the experience and window shop in the area without buying too much stuff from here. If you do get tempted into making any purchases don’t forget to bargain. While you are in the city, make a visit to Downtown Amman for a day of entertainment and to get transported back in time. It is crowded and you may not even find parking easily but still it is worth a visit.
