While you are in Jordan, visiting the Dead Sea is such a must do that it would actually be a crime not to put it on your itinerary. This unique water body got its name from the ancient Romans and the mineral rich water here is so salty (33.7%salinity) that no plants or animals can exist in it. The Dead Sea is actually is a hyper saline lake which is essentially a body of water locked by land on all sides, in this case Israel, West Bank and Jordan.
The water itself is the main attraction. It is unbelievably dense and is eight times saltier than the ocean water. This density makes it easy for humans to float on water. This is the only place where non-swimmers can get a feel of being in water and floating on it. It is extremely relaxing to just lie effortlessly in the Dead Sea and stay afloat.
