I wouldn’t be mistaken when I say that Franz Kafka is the soul of Prague and Prague is the soul of Kafka. While he never directly referred to the city in any of his works, the political turmoil that the Czech capital was once surrounded by forms a large feature of his literary productions. The author’s life was, as known to many, perpetually shrouded in mystery. Considering the mystique constantly associated with Bohemia, it is difficult not to draw parallels between the two. Several corners of the city are adorned by elements sharing a kindred relationship with the author and the locals are proud of every one of them. Kafka is omnipresent, right from his birthplace to his tomb, right from the places he called home to the cafes he dined in. Prague indeed is the ‘City of K’. It is Kafkaesque in every way! Here are ten places to visit in Prague that have Franz Kafka written all over them—places that have his fingerprints literally and metaphorically. When in the city, do walk along the Kafka trail; it is surreal and will bring you a lot closer to the enchanting life he lived and the legacy he left behind.
