Inside the pink cotton candy caves of Australia

Nature never ceases to amaze us and the pretty pink candy caves in Australia are another proof of nature’s bounty and beauty. These caves, just two hours north of Sydney, have suddenly gone viral on social media and have earned the sobriquet of "cotton candy caves" due to their vibrant pink shades.

Nestled in the Munmorah State Conservation Area, these natural wonders can be reached via the Moonee Beach Trail. Though the trek is a little treacherous, it’s completely worth it. The return journey is along the rocks, which can be quite tiring. The administration has also requested visitors to only make the trek during low tide as the rocks get extremely slippery and the waves are also too high.

Over the years, the ocean cave's platform has been split into two, which means the waves crash right in the middle of the cave. Thus it is advisable to trek during low tide, when waves rush through the split rock. As soon as the water is drained from the cave, it exposes the bright pink and purple hues.
So visitors have to be extremely careful while taking this trek.

How to reach?

There are two routes to reach these pink caves. The shortcut takes nearly two hours and takes the adventurers through the northern end of Moonee Beach via the rock platforms on the coast.

The second route is a bit longer but promises some picturesque views and is totally worth your time. In this trip, trekkers would get a chance to go through a less-explored section of colourful sea caves.
