Captivating winter scenes from Kashmir
Winter in Kashmir is truly nature’s masterpiece. Everything around you turns serene, draped in a pristine blanket of snow. The landscape, that once was all about green meadows and mountain streams and rivers, now turns into a white wonderland with frozen rivers. It’s a delicate thing to see and one that stays on your mind and soul for a long time.
Winter brings a new life to the already popular places. With experiences like skiing, cable car rides over snow-covered valleys and mountains, and horse/mule rides and more, Kashmir, the Heaven on Earth, touches heartstrings.
Gulmarg's snowy landscapes
Gulmarg in winter is a sight to behold. It is picturesque throughout the year but come winter, the town turns into a snow-covered wonderland. Visit Gulmarg for skiing adventures.
Dal Lake's frozen beauty
There have been reports in the past of Dal Lake freezing partially during winters. However, it doesn’t happen so often nowadays. But don’t lose heart, the scenery surrounding the lake is stunning especially when they are covered in snow. The iconic houseboats against a backdrop of snow-laden mountains are a sight to see.
Snow-covered Pahalgam
Pahalgam is easily one of the most beautiful places in India, and the otherwise green and lush landscape gets covered in snow in winter. The Lidder river flowing through the landscape looks stunning.
Snow-capped Pir Panjal Range
The view of the Pir Panjal Range is stunning beyond words can describe. The majestic mountain range definitely adds to the beauty of Kashmir.
Picture-perfect Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh
Visit Shalimar and Nishat Bagh and witness these Mughal Gardens transform from the orange-red colours of fall season to a scene of snow-laden trees and snow-covered ground. The transformation is magical.
Snow-covered beauty of Betaab Valley
When you visit Betaab Valley in winter, you will be greeted with snow blankets on the valley floor and the surrounding mountains. It is truly a picture-perfect sight.
Aru Valley's winter magic
Aru Valley will give you a more offbeat experience. It is not exactly untouched but it’s true that it is one of the least-visited places in Kashmir.
