Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Park

Perhaps the most heart-wrenching and potent reminder of the tragedy that befell the city in 1945, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial stands like a silent, dead structure for visitors to see. Located right in the middle of the city, this Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome) was the only construction to stand through the explosion that shook Hiroshima and the entire world, as a result it has been brilliantly preserved by the authorities even after all these years. It once used to be the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotional Hall that was built in 1914, but is now a symbol of the catastrophes that mankind is capable of bringing about. While the ruins might move you to tears, it also is a manifestation of hope we have in our hearts for peace and harmony.
This grim property is surrounded by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park that is home to a multitude of memorials to the victims of the Atomic Bomb attack. The fact that it is green and bright acts as a remedy to the pain brought out by the horrors of the past. It also is an illustration of the invincible spirit of the city of Hiroshima. Today, travellers from all over the world visit the park and the memorial to pay their respects to the deceased despite the immense sadness associated with it.
