Cochin Port gets helicopter services to ease travel for cruise tourists

Helicopter services have been introduced at the Cochin Port in a move to boost tourism and add interesting experiences for cruise tourists. Chipsan Aviation from Willingdon Island has introduced the said service, in association with the District Tourism Promotion Council, Kerala Tourism and Greenix Village.
The helicopter service was recently inaugurated by Cochin Port Trust Chairperson M. Beena. On the first day, around 50 passengers were taken for a ride. This comes as welcome news for visitors as the Cochin Port is one of the most popular cruise destinations in India. As per the reports, five rides were sponsored by Cochin Customs Brokers Association, Steamer Agents Association, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Seafood Exporters Association.
Reportedly, around 49 international cruise ships visited the port during 2018-19, and still holds the top spot in terms of cruise handling ports in India.
Referring to this development, the Chairperson stated that since a lot of passengers are repeat visitors, there was a need to introduce more tours and exciting experiences in the itinerary. She also informed that the helicopter service that will operate trips to the Jatayu Earth Centre and Munnar has generated a good response from tour operators and cruise passengers.
In terms of interesting activities to be introduced in the itinerary, free mehndi designing was arranged at the cruise terminal for the visitors, who arrived by the Azamara Quest vessel. Sources in the know-how also mentioned that more such initiatives are in store to surprise the cruise tourists at Kochi, including a new cruise terminal, which is expected to become operational by 2020.
