Belgium's most famous comic book characters leap from page to wall
Word to the wise: The trail starts near the Manneken Pis with a mural taken from a Tintin comic, so you can visit Brussels' two most beloved characters in one go.

Home to such comic characters as Tintin, Asterix and the Smurfs and boasting more comic authors per kilometre than anywhere else, it's fair to say that Belgium is the comic book capital of the world. And to celebrate their historical and cultural significance, artists were commissioned to paint comic murals on 30 walls across the city in the early 1990s.
Download a map from the City of Brussels' website or pick up a booklet in any tourist office to follow the comic art trail, which will lead you to giant murals of colourful comic scenes - a style that Belgian comics are renowned for introducing. The clear lines and bright colours splashed across the side of buildings are always surprising, even when you're expecting them.
