According to reports, India’s ever-growing domestic air traffic has seen some changes as routes such as Delhi-Pune-Delhi, Delhi-Kolkata-Delhi, and Delhi-Lucknow-Delhi, have had a significant growth between 2007 and 2017 in terms of number of seats allotted. Other routes such as the Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi, Delhi-Bengaluru-Delhi, Mumbai-Bengaluru-Mumbai, and Delhi-Hyderabad-Delhi have been dominating the top air routes in India in terms of passenger seats.
While many sectors were unable to see any shift in their standings, it has been reported that the number of seats in each sector has grown in the last ten years.
Certain busy air routes also moved down the ladder, which includes Mumbai-Chennai-Mumbai, which was at 3rd position in terms of number of seats in 2007, to the 10th place in 2017. Moreover, Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Mumbai sector moved down from 8th position in 2007 to 15th in 2017. Also, Mumbai-Kolkata-Mumbai sector has moved down from 12th to 17th place.
