Spend a lazy afternoon – Located in the heart of Munich, Englischer Garten or English Garden is one of the largest city parks in Europe. The park gets its name from the landscape layout which was influenced by the English style gardens famous during the 18th century. The area of over 900 acres is the green lung of Munich. The park is a popular recreational joint for locals. You can spot them chatting, singing, sunbathing, jogging, biking, or even surfing over a manmade wave. The odd attractions inside the park include Chinesischer Turm (Chinese pagoda), Japanese Teahouse, and Monopteros (Greek temple) located on a small hilltop. The highlights here are the two beer gardens. The beer gardens located near Kleinhesseloher Lake and Chinesischer Turm are the most popular hangout places for locals, and as well as tourists. Even with a capacity of more than 7,000 seats, the beer gardens get pretty crowded during summer season. Get your hands on the local brew, and find a bench to enjoy the festive atmosphere around these beer gardens. This is the best way to unwind after few days of sightseeing.
