Located on the outskirts of Hubli, Unkal Lake is a popular picnic spot in the city. Spread over 200 acres, the lake is believed to be over 100 years old. The area around the lake is well developed with a lovely garden and recreational facilities are available for children. Mostly, people visit this lake during evening as it offers stunning views of the sunset. You can also go for boating and see the statue of Swami Vivekananda, which rests right in the middle of the lake.
Being the Karma Bhoomi of Saint Shri Siddappajja, the lake has a historical and religious significance. An annual fair is held each year in memory of this great saint, wherein a number of cultural activities are organised and numerous stalls are installed for foodies to gorge on.
