Angel Oak tree, South Carolina
This beautiful trees stands tall (slightly more than 66 ft!) at the Angel Oak Park on Johns Island in South Carolina. It is one of the oldest trees in the east of Mississippi River, and gives shade to a mammoth 17,200 sq ft! The tree is so famous that it has featured in a number of TV series as well.

Alley of Baobabs, Madagascar
This cluster of Baobab trees in Madagascar is also famous by the name of the Avenue of the Baobabs. They make for a very beautiful sight and are visited by travellers from across the world. No tree lover should skip this one.

The Great Banyan, India
This tree in the largest tree in India, and sprawls at Howrah's Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden. It is also the world's largest banyan tree and is more than 250 years old! Dark Hedges, Northern Ireland
The famous Dark Hedges is an avenue that is lined with beech trees and is otherworldly to look at. The foliage is so dense that the avenue looks more like a tunnel to another world; the trees here were planted in the 18th century by the Stuart family. The avenue has also featured in the famous series, the Game of Thrones.

General Sherman tree, Sequoia National Park, California
Meet the world's largest tree (by volume)! It stands tall in California's Sequoia National Park and its age is somewhere between 2,200 to 2,700 years old. It is also the largest known living single-stem tree on the planet. It towers at 275 feet and is still growing! This is one sight that is not to be missed for anything else in the world.

Another otherworldly sight awaits tree lovers at Devon's Wistman's Wood. It is one of Britain's highest oakwoods, and comprises of oaks, hawthorn, holly and some rowans too. It is believed that the woods date back to 7000 BCE and are reminders of an once dense, ancient forest.

Maple trees, Japan
Japan is also home to maple trees that turn it into a picture postcard during autumn. Come mid-September and you can spot plenty of them in parts of Tokyo and Kyoto. Brilliant shades of orange adorn these regions till December, and you must not miss this spectacle when here.

There are a number of places in California if you want to feast your eyes on the very beautiful redwood trees. The species is an evergreen tree, and lives for 2,200 years or more! Coast redwoods can grow as tall as 379 feet, and are a must-visit if you want to understand how tiny humans are in the bigger picture!
