Huanchaco Beach, located in the northern part of Peru makes for an all-round break. At the outset, let us make it clear that this isn’t really the beach for swimming. It is quite rocky in parts. However, it is perfect for surfers and sipping a drink or two while relaxing by the water. There are quite a few shacks, which serve us traditional Peruvian fare and delicious cocktails. You will also get to see local fishermen going fishing in unique boats made completely out of reed. This is one of the very few places in the world that these traditional boats are still used for fishing. Huanchaco Beach is also perfect because it is located in close proximity to historical gems such as Trujillo. The streets of this town are gold for any photographer and history enthusiast. Colonial splendour is everywhere to be seen. We absolutely love the bright buildings of Trujillo. Don’t leave the area without exploring the Chan Chan ruins. These ruins, close to the Huanchaco Beach are an impressive reminder of the pre Incan Chimu Dynasty.
