The Maldives continues to witness a huge footfall of Indian tourists, registering a massive growth of 96.4 per cent in tourist arrivals from India from January to May 2019 as compared to the same period last year. Reportedly, Indian market captures the third position in terms of tourist arrivals in the Maldives with a market share of 8.8 per cent till May 2019. And, as India ranks in the top five, the Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) is now planning to strengthen the market by conducting additional activities throughout the year.
Latest reports suggest that now MMPRC is entering into strategic partnerships with online tour agencies and key tour operators in India. Also, the authorities are looking forward to collaborating with Indian celebrities to further highlight the Maldives as a popular tourist spot. Not just this, MMPRC is working closely with the media and Indian travel trade influencers to showcase the highlights of the region and promote the destination to travellers and tourists directly.
