King Arthur’s birthplace is soon going to be a major place for tourism, as a new narrow footbridge with a 60 m gorge is going to open soon. The footbridge is a low crossing to the legendary Tintagel Castle, the birthplace of King Arthur. It is located on the coast of southwest England.
The history of this site is a part of the history of King Arthur. With so many myths, histories surrounding the castle, it is definitely a major attraction for history and culture buffs. Built in the 13th century, it gives you a slice of Medieval history. The castle in question here was built by the Earl of Cornwall, and the location could not have been more idyllic. A land-bridge connected the two sides (the mainland and the island); over the years it has eroded, and until now the two parts were connected by deep steps.
Now, with the footbridge, tourists can easily travel between the two parts of the site. As Kate Mevor, Chief Executive, English Heritage said, “Tintagel Castle has been made whole again.”
Tickets to the grand opening are selling out fast, so reserve a spot today.
