Dimapur is the gateway to the state of Nagaland. It is the largest city of the state and shares a close border with the Karbi Anglong district in the neighbouring state of Assam. Chumukedima village on the outskirts of this city is an ancient village of Dimasa Kachari kingdom, and is famous for the ruins of that era besides waterfalls. The ruins are dotted with age old temples, reservoirs and tanks that were a part of the kingdom. Dimapur carries the charm of a city that is bustling between the expansions of its demographic growth with the rise in the standard of living and also retaining the traditions of the Naga beliefs and customs that have inundated the skyline of this region for a major part of the history.
