Dayang Bunting is one of the inhabited islands of Langkawi and is known for its pregnant maiden lake, a very popular tourist attraction. The island is spoiled with notorious monkeys who snatch your things and it is a tough walk from the boat jetty to the entrance. It is a short walk through the verdant greenery that the island has, to the magnificent lake. The lake gets its name from the mountain in the background, which resembles a pregnant lady lying on her back. The massive mountain, the surrounding greenery and the placid azure lake undoubtedly make a beautiful frame. One can also have a dip in the cold waters of the lake. As per the locals, the water of this lake has magical powers and is capable of making infertile women fertile, helping them produce off springs. Though there is not much one can do here, the place is quite a serene one and soaking in the ambience of the landscape is a soothing one. One can also walk around, enjoy the different vistas of the lake and stroll through the green landscape.
