Linderhof Palace

Explore the beauty of a majestic palace – Located in the secluded Graswang valley, Linderhof Palace is another fairytale palace by the King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Built in 1874 at the location of Königshäuschen hunting lodge, the palace design was partly inspired from the Versailles near Paris. Out of the three castles that the King Ludwig II built during his rule, Linderhof Palace is the only one which was completed during his lifetime, and where he actually lived. The setting of a Baroque structure in a beautiful lush green countryside is further enhanced by Italian style Renaissance gardens and water parks surrounding the royal villa. The Venus Grotto inside the park is an example of technological marvel, the grotto was fabulously illuminated recreating the fantasy of the Wagner operas. The opulent interiors of Linderhof Palace include lavishly decorated stately rooms, and bed chambers. The Hall of the Mirror is the highlight of the rococo styling which is heavily studded with mirrors to land an illusion of never ending day. Take an hour-long drive to the countryside and visit the fantasy land of Bavaria's favourite king. Every year on 24th August the area is illuminated with fireworks to celebrate King Ludwig II’s birthday!
