A one-and-a-half-hour-drive from Manali towards Parvati Valley leads to Jari village, which marks the ascent for a steep uphill hike to the village of Malana. The village that was unaffected by modern civilisation a few years ago, is now frequented by many travellers. While you explore the village on foot, make sure you do not touch any of the villagers or their belongings, as they are particular about not coming in physical contact with anyone who does not belong to their clan. The village was destroyed in a massive fire in 2008, but has been refurbished, and is now lined up with multiple eateries and guesthouses. The village offers a quiet escape from the crowded town of Manali and makes for a perfect day trip. Taking a guide along is recommended.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
