Marbella

The province of Malaga is laden with picturesque whitewashed villages. There is no dearth of fishing villages in the area but there is none more famous, or should we say infamous, than Marbella. Marbella was once a quiet fishing village, known for its quaint streets and tiny shops. However it has undergone a transformation in the past few decades. It has been converted into one of Costa Del Sol’s most cosmopolitan areas. The village is now jam-packed with hotels, resorts and guesthouses. It is a popular destination for party animals and there are nightclubs by the dozen in this area. It is also the destination of choice for the rich and the famous. Many celebrities and uber-rich businessmen own houses on Marbella’s Golden Mile, a four-mile stretch that is also home to most of Marbella’s luxury hotels and the King Fahd’s Palace. Despite all these developments, the Old Town of Marbella still has a quiet charm about it. There is a Moorish castle to explore and the tangle of narrow streets laden with flowerpots is enough to entice most visitors into staying in Marbella for longer than they originally intended.
