Prepare well for your trip to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, for the visions you will see there will stay with you for the rest of your life. Jokulsarlon is an enormous glacial lake at the foot of the Vatnajokull glacier. Icebergs, big and small, silently float on the calm waters of the lagoon. The hypnotic rhythm of the icebergs has entranced thousands of tourists and photographers over the years. A number of movies, including A View to a Kill, Die Another Day, Tomb Raider and Batman Begins have been shot here. There are hundreds of seals and birds at Jokulsarlon, depending on the season. You can take photos of the birds from any vantage point but we suggest opting for a boat tour of the lake—it is easily the best way to drink in the scenery of the lake and the surrounding areas. But the charms of Jokulsarlon don’t end there. A spectacular black beach sits next to the lagoon. Where else in the world will you find a black beach strewn with lava next to a lake full of floating icebergs? Only in Iceland!
