For foodies, New Orleans is heaven, more so for those who love fried food. New Orleans is known for its typical Southern food, but a part of it is heavily influenced with French cooking and the resulting Creole food is delicious to say the least. Add Cajun to the mix and it is quite literally a soul-satisfying experience. While there are many food tours on offer, there are some things not to be missed, such as beignets at Cafe du Monde, potato soufflés at Antoine’s, po’boys at Parasols, muffaletta at Central Grocery, Creole dishes at Arnaud’s and Commander’s Palace, gumbo at Upperline, fried chicken at Willie Mae’s, oysters from Drago’s, and jambalaya at Coop’s Place to name a few.
