A holiday away from Mumbai
Thinking of an offbeat holiday away from Mumbai? After all the city is always so busy, and there is so much happening all the time. Where would one go for some peace and quiet? So that is where these offbeat destinations come into play. Fantastic locations that offer a very pleasing holiday.
Saputara
It takes only about 5 hours and 15 minutes by road to reach Gujarat's only hill station Saputara. It is a world of culture and traditions, that combine with nature's beauty. Saputara is a unique hill station, a far cry from the north Indian ones, and hence it is important that you explore it. Its distinct tribal culture is quite an interesting addition to an already stellar holiday destination.
Wai
One of the most unique destinations near Mumbai, Wai is known for its temples. But this magical destination also has an amazing vibe, there is a charm in the air. Wai is located on the banks of the Krishna River, and is quite scenic to say the least. It can be a perfect getaway for those who are looking for quiet and peace.
Lonar Lake
A National Geo-heritage Monument, Lonar Lake is a wonder of wonders. The nearest railway station is Partur, and from Partur it is only about 1 hour 30 minutes. The lake itself is spectacular, and a day tour is your best choice. The lake surrounded by forests, and ancient temples within those forests, it is really a unique getaway.
Amba Ghat
A beautiful destination, Amba Ghat is a tranquil offbeat getaway from Mumbai. You can take a train or bus to Sangameshwar, from where it is only 53 km away. There are some beautiful hotels here in Amba Ghat, and of course being a natural paradise, you are in for a treat. Get lost in the mist, and the greenery that surrounds it all.
Tapola
Located in the district of Satara, this is an amazing picnic spot with the backwaters from the Koyna dam flowing. It is sometimes referred to as Mini Kashmir, thanks to its glorious surroundings. The water body here is the centre of attraction, and boating here is a must.
