Kartarpur corridor: 80 immigration counters set up to ease the clearance process

As per latest development, Pakistan has set up around 80 immigration counters to speed up clearance process at the Kartarpur corridor, as huge footfall of tourists is expected at the holy shrine.

Last week, India and Pakistan signed an agreement with regard to the Kartarpur corridor, which will facilitate Indian pilgrims to undertake visa-free visit to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the holy shrine of Guru Nanak Dev in Pakistan.
As per the agreement, 5000 Indian pilgrims will be allowed to visit the Gurudwara, where the Sikh religion’s founder Guru Nanak Dev spent 18 years of his life. Latest reports suggest that Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has built three entry gates to facilitate the entry of Indian pilgrims. Also, those pilgrims returning to India will be directed through a designated gate.
Reports also state that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will be sending a clearance list of all those pilgrims to the Indian border force 10 days before their arrival. Their passports will be scanned on their arrival, after which they will be taken to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in special buses under the security cover of Pakistani rangers. If any of the pilgrims’ passport is found to be in the blacklist, he or she will not be allowed entry, the report stated.
Further, pilgrims from both the sides will undergo biometric screening before being allowed entry inside the shrine. Apart from the immigration counters, an immigration hall has also been built at Zero Point, situated 4 km away from the shrine, to facilitate the pilgrims.

The report further mentioned that pilgrims will be required to leave on the same day at 5 PM, and will not be allowed to stay at the shrine. However, they will not be subjected to any kind of restrictions if they want to re-enter after they have passed the clearance process.
