With a verdant forest enclosing it in its cradle, Devkund Waterfall is a known haven for nature lovers seeking a respite from everything mundane. Located in the Sahyadri Range of Western Ghats, this waterfall near Mumbai has been on the radar of several trekkers from and around Mumbai.
Generally, trekkers and visitors prefer camping for a day or two around the waterfall.

Know some dos and don’ts before travelling to Devkund Waterfall:
• Reach there early to avoid facing too many visitors.
• Carry a mosquito repellent to keep bugs at bay.
• Take enough food and drinking water for the trek, more so, if you are planning an overnight stay.
• Learn swimming to enjoy the cool waters of Devkund Falls.
• Have a Swiss knife in your bag and a raincoat, as well as a waterproof backpack to shield against unpredictable rains.
• Wear covered clothing to avoid bitten by bugs and be prepared for a face-off with leeches on the trek.
• Strictly avoid trekking to Devkund picnic spot during monsoons as the area around the spot gets very slippery and the flow of water picks up speed, thus, increasing the possibility of serious mishaps.

Finally, on your way back, do experience the hospitality of obliging local villagers. You’d love to relish spicy curry and yummy rural dishes served with chapatti, rice, papad and fresh salad. And do not leave the area before beholding the gorgeous sunset in its horizon at the Bhira Dam—your sure shot way to get those perfect pictures for the Instagram.
