Places that look straight out of the magical world of Harry Potter!
Once in their life, every die hard fan of Harry Potter must have gone to sleep with the dreams of getting their Hogwarts letter! The Potter magic left people bedazzled and dreamy with its hypnotic world of witches, wizards, elves, muggles, dementors and Hogwarts (the school for magic). Sadly, Harry Potter fans can’t actually visit Hogwarts and those several magical places depicted in the books and movies. However, there are places across the globe that look straight out of the magical world of Harry Potter. Check these out here, and start your magic trip!
02
Taggia, Italy
Taggia in Italy is so dark that the place will remind you of the haunting Knockturn Alley (the infamous alley for dark magic and Malfoys used to hang out here a lot)! The place is also mysterious and only brave fans would want to be here.
03
Georgetown University, the USA
Founded in 1789, it is a renowned education hub that resembles the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! So, just get your wands and robes ready and head to the university. The spells won’t work here but you can definitely get a few magical pictures clicked here.
04
Colmar, France
Wish you were in Hogsmeade (a wizarding village) and celebrating Christmas eve with a cup of butterbeer? Well, you need to plan a trip to Colmar to live your dream! A cute place, Colmar is also known as the Capital of Alsatian Wine.
05
Moor Brook, England
Moor Brook will instantly transport you to the Forbidden Forest. Just don’t go on looking for a werewolf, centaur, hippogriffs or a unicorn here! Thanks to Harry Potter travellers, this place was found.
06
Horace Burgess's Treehouse
Welcome to the Burrow (Weasley’s residence)! Also known as Horace Burgess's Treehouse, this tree house is 97 ft tall and built within an 80-foot-tall oak tree! Situated in Crossville, Tennessee, it is also counted among the largest treehouses in the world but unfortunately, it got shut down in 2012 because of some fire code violation.
07
Radio Kootwijk, Netherlands
Radio Kootwijk is a stunning Dutch hamlet with a population of about 120 people. The prime attraction here is Building A and The Cathedral (also known as the Sphynx). Once inside, you’ll get the Azkaban (the prison for criminal wizards guarded by soul-sucking dementors) chills.
08
Erfurt, Germany
Erfurt is a pretty, well-preserved medieval city in Germany that will give you Diagon Alley (a wizarding shopping area) from the books. The charming buildings here mimics Hogwarts a bit too. There’s a merchants' bridge, an old synagogue and a citadel that are major tourist attractions.
09
Castle Crypt, Durham Castle, England
This place is the replica of Chamber of Secrets from the book. Durham Castle was built in 1072 in England. It was converted into a college in 1840. Today, it is a University College with around 100 students. Guided tours are to the crypt that is present underneath the building. It resembles the Chamber of Secrets and students often go down there looking for basilisks! (not really).
