Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi recently announced that Kirumampakkam Lake will become one of the prime tourist spots in Puducherry from April 15, 2018. Mrs. Bedi has been reviewing the restoration work of the Kirumampakkam Lake after receiving an invitation by Welfare Minister M Kandasamy.
She also said that now this lake will be promoted as an eco-friendly tourist spot in Puducherry. On April 15, this lake will be declared as an eco-friendly tourist attraction in the city.

After the inspection was done, Mrs. Bedi asked the PWD to clean the bund of the lake. Rural community was also involved in planting saplings along the bund and the forest department helped in the task.
To prevent pollution in the area, Bedi requested the administration to declare the region a vehicle-free zone that will also help in preserving the locality’s serenity. Tourism department has now been asked to make signage and launch paddle boat services in the lake. Women SHGs and Ponlait (Pondicherry Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd) are given the responsibility of serving refreshments in the region.
