If you have been on a Delhi to Dehradun Shatabdi train or any other train that follows this route, your train would have surely halted at a station called Rewari. Although, for most passengers, this station would fail to garner attention, it is a very ancient and historical town of Haryana.
Rewari has found references in the Mahabharata and even the Rig Veda. It is also known by the name of Brahmvarta for being the birthplace of Vedic civilisation.
Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya, who was an unpopular but a powerful medieval Hindu king, belonged to Rewari.
There are forts and other historical sites in Rewari that are good for a casual visit. However, a Sanatan Dharma Temple located in the heart of the city is a distinct place that stands out as Rewari’s topmost visitor attractions. It is a three-storeyed temple having idols of different Hindu deities, and also a sprawling garden.
How to reach?
Rewari is located 82 km south-west of the NCR across the Delhi-Jaipur NH-8. It is 80 km from Delhi on the NH-71.
