Interestingly, there are distilleries almost in the centre of the city, such as Old New Orleans Rum, that one can visit to take a distillery tour. Inside, the distilleries are usually a high-ceilinged warehouse style sprawling structure. Cheery tour leaders will explain the process of cooking the ingredients, fermenting, and distilling, as they take you through the factory. But more than anything else, it is the tasting at the end which is the ultimate reward, and you could end up tasting varieties of it, anything from white to fruit-flavoured to spiced.
