Tirana is the largest city of Albania and also happens to be its capital. It is the hub of governmental, cultural and economic activity of the country. Situated at a distance of 330 km from Dubrovnik, it takes nearly five hours to reach Tirana by car. You can also book ahead for a direct flight although it does not save you much in terms of time. Tirana enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate and is ranked among the 10 sunniest cities of Europe. Skanderbeg Square is the central point of the county and is adorned by a huge bronze statue of Skanderbeg who was a national hero. Et’hem Bey Mosque, one of the nation’s most treasured buildings, is also located here. There is a lot of history on display at the Square—it houses the nation’s major museums, including the National Historic Museum. If city centres are not for you, simply head to Mount Dajti National Park for a refreshing walk and a wonderful view of the Tirana plain. Or go to Parku i Madh (Grand Park) to enjoy some fresh air and the Mediterranean sunshine. Tirana is extremely famous for its hospitality and so don’t be surprised if you are invited over for a coffee or a rakija (a plum brandy). This county is a riot of colours. Even the housing estates are coloured in bright rainbow hues, lending a sense of cheer to the place. There are many cafés where you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. And if by the end of all this you still want more, just go to one of the several night clubs which are mainly located around Blloku.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
