India is a land of cricket, as we rightly say that Cricket is a religion here in the country. Speaking of travel, there are some goals that are bigger, and sometimes tougher to accomplish, sports tourism is one of them. And watching a cricket match in one of the best cricket stadiums in the world is part of it. Lord’s, London
Known as ‘the home of cricket,’ this is where every cricketer aspires to play at least once in their lifetime. Located in London’s St. John’s Woods, Lord’s is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club, and was established somewhere between 1787 and 1814. The first test match in Lord’s was played way back in July, 1884. Moreover, Lord’s cricket ground has the world’s oldest sporting museum. This is where Sourav Ganguly had taken off his shirt after winning the NatWest Series in 2002.

Eden Gardens, Kolkata
The biggest cricket stadium in India, Eden Gardens, was established in 1864. The stadium is known for hosting important international matches, and its eclectic crowd that comes to cheer on. And if you had the chance to watch an India vs. Pakistan match in Kolkata, you should consider yourself lucky. The ground is also home to the Bengal cricket team (state level), and has witnessed some very important matches in recent memory. A particular match that created some waves was the match of India vs. Sri Lanka 1996 World Cup Semi-Final, where the match was stopped after a riot in the stadium, and Sri Lanka was declared the winner.

Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne

The beautiful Melbourne Cricket Ground is also simply known as the G. It was opened in 1853, and is one of the best places where you can watch a game of cricket. It was here in this ground where Pakistan defeated England to win their first Cricket World Cup in 1992. One of the main events here in the stadium is the Boxing Day test matches that start on December 26, and which draws massive crowds. You could try and catch it this year!
The Oval, Kennington

The oval is a rare cricket ground that is shaped in the oval shape, and is one of the most attractive grounds you will see. The stadium was built in 1845, and is the venue that hosted the first ever test match between England and Australia. It is home to the Surrey County Cricket Club, and in fact had even hosted a football match way back in 1872, the first FA Cup Final between England and Scotland.
