If crowded beaches aren’t your thing, head to the northern tip of Langkawi island. Tanjung Rhu beach is somewhat of a hidden gem and it’s the perfect antidote to the hustle-bustle and chaos of Pantai Cenang. Tanjung Rhu Resort, an oasis of luxury and peace, occupies one part of the beach, but the other half is open to the public. This fact isn’t well known. As a result, very few tourists end up at that beach. If you do make it to Tanjung Rhu beach, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. There are rainforests next to the wide beach. The beach overlooks bright blue waters and limestone cliffs. You can even rent a boat and go for a ride to the uninhabited islands near Langkawi. Don’t miss the local grub at the shacks at one corner of the Tanjung Rhu beach. These shacks are run by locals and don’t have an extensive menu, but whatever is on the menu is downright scrumptious. Try the laksa or deep-fried prawns.
