Within the palace premises and scattered all along the walls are many temples associated with the royal household which are still functioning to this day. Of these, the Sri Lakshmi Ramana Swamy Temple is of immense importance since it is among the oldest and royals were crowned here. Read less

Within the palace premises and scattered all along the walls are many temples associated with the royal household which are still functioning to this day. Of these, the Sri Lakshmi Ramana Swamy Temple is of immense importance since it is among the oldest and royals were crowned here. The 19th century Shweta Varahaswamy Temple, named after an incarnation of Vishnu, is located to the south gate of the palace. It has beautiful murals from the Ramayana and Bhagavatha. In the Southeast and the Northeast are temples dedicated to Shiva, Kodi Bhairavaswami and Trinethraswami Temples, respectively. Sri Prasanna Krishnaswami Temple is dedicated to Krishna and has bronze statues. Other temples in the premises include the Kille Venkataramana Swami Temple, Someshwara temple dedicated to Shiva, Bhuvaneshwari temple with its unique Surya Mandala, and Gayatri temple with exquisite stone sculptures.
