Explore the stunning rice terraces

Bali’s inland scenery may be even more beautiful than its sparkling coastline! Bali is blessed with lush, tropical landscapes and endless rice terraces in all shades of emerald green that offer stunning panoramic views.
You can find stunning rice paddies in rural areas all over Bali, but the most famous and most spectacular rice terraces are the UNESCO heritage listed ones in Tegalalang and Jatiluwih, half an hour north of Ubud. Just the drive to reach here offers wonderfully scenic vistas and a chance to see Balinese farmers in the fields in their traditional conical hats.

The rice terraces are one of the most picturesque locations of Bali and there are also many little cafes, kiosks, and stalls selling local crafts, including fabulous ornamental woodwork and carvings of mystical creatures. Even though the most splendid terraced landscapes are found in Tegalalang, the ones in the nearby villages of Pejeng and Campuhan are also amazing and less busy with tourists.
