The global warming situation is not going anywhere, hence New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s government is looking to declare a climate emergency. The idea is to push forward the global effort to combat global warming. Ardern’s government will soon put forward this motion regarding climate emergency.
Jacinda Ardern who recently returned to power has been instrumental in tackling the Coronavirus situation in the country. Her party has also passed a Zero Carbon Bill, which aims for net zero emissions by 2050.
The climate emergency bill is an important step towards furthering the efforts of countries in battling climate change. New Zealand will join countries such as Britain, France, and Canada if this bill is passed.
Currently, India has been tackling Cyclone Nivar, which hit the southern coast of Tamil Nadu. The cyclone which began in the Indian Ocean is the result of climate change in the Indian Ocean. As per the experts, climate change has led to warmer temperatures at sea, which leads to cyclones such as this.
Here’s hoping that more countries join New Zealand, Britain, France, and Canada in declaring a climate emergency. But, the vital point here is that such a declaration must lead to something, and not just remain a campaign that reads good in the news.
